WHY FLORIDA?

As you might imagine, we’re asked this a lot. Jim Harrison,
President of Northern Outfitters, was born and raised in Florida.
Being an avid hunter, he has traveled all over the world in pursuit of
adventure and his next trophy. Also a dedicated conservationist,
he’s visited regions from the Himalayan Steppes of the Tibetan Plateau
in Western China to Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, working for the
preservation of the Marco Polo Sheep and the Snow Leopard.
Temperatures there frequently drop to -60◦F. Being a thin-blooded
Floridian, Jim has always insisted on the finest cold weather clothing
available, and for almost 30 years Northern Outfitters has been the answer.

So when Northern Outfitters came on the market a few years ago, who
better to run it than Jim? But with his lifelong roots and his family in Florida,
the move to Jacksonville was inevitable.

So here we are in Florida--not the Miami Beach kind of Florida--North
Florida, where it actually freezes in winter, even snows occasionally, and
the Vaetrex 0◦ comes in mighty handy.
